The Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA)

The Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) organizes a soccer
tournament every year. The 2005 edition was in Atlanta, Georgia but the tournament is organized ever year in a different state. As a non governmental organization the ESFNA activities started in 1984 with the objective to promote benevolence and social connection among Ethiopian communities in North America through soccer and the cultural events.
The goal of this presentation is to present the organization and the success of the soccer tournament as sporting, fundraising and social event for the Ethiopian Diaspora in North America, Europe and also Ethiopia. The presentation will also examine the gender roles in the ESFNA and their annual events. s.
