I am a specialist in communication and sport business, temporary teacher at the Institute of Sports Sciences and Human Development (ISSDH) of the University of Ouagadougou. I teach in this university, sports marketing and communication to students in sports management and basketball.
In addition, I am an executive of the Ministry of Sports where I have worked since 2006 in press relations and communication. I organized with this department many international events and travelled for international competitions around the world, such as the FIFA U17 World Cup and the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in football.
As a former basketball player, I am currently the leader and promoter of the Moving Sport Camp, which offers training in athletics, basketball, floorball and football to non-disabled and disabled children (girls and boys).
Thus, I am 360掳 in the promotion of sport and its benefits, such as inclusion, the defense of noble causes through sport. I promote all the virtues of sport, as a tool for the development of humanity. I experience these kinds of virtues with the Special Olympics athletes in Burkina Faso. I notice how sport can help people with disabilities to empower themselves and integrate into their community.
ABSTRACT:
“Sport, a powerful factor for inclusion and development of people living with a disability: Case of the Moving Sport Camp in Burkina Faso.”
The population of Burkina Faso is estimated at 21,497,097 in 2021, of which 1.1% live with a disability. Unfortunately, these vulnerable people are victims of many forms of stigmatization and exclusion by their families, friends and communities. The practice of sport by these people is a powerful way for them to integrate into society, breaking down all the barriers that stand in front of them. This is the fight that the Moving Sport Camp (MSC) is leading, which since 2018 welcomes in its midst athletes with disabilities, namely intellectually disabled and hearing impaired.聽 Through its inclusive camp, Moving Sport Camp brings together more than 300 athletes in Bobo-Dioulasso each year, promoting education and inclusion of people with disabilities. In 2021 and 2022, more than 50 athletes with disabilities thrived alongside their peers during the camp in track and field, basketball, floorball and soccer. The able-bodied athletes were provided with sign language facilitation to facilitate communication with the hearing impaired.聽The experience shared through the Moving Sport Camp (MSC), confirms once again the power of sport to promote inclusion and break social inequalities.
