IMPUMELELO, the Interdisciplinary Electronic Journal of African Sports was launched in 2004 to provide n unique immediate and authentic medium for the promotion of sports in Africa. The journal publications focused primarily on sports from an interdisciplinary perspective, with contributions from scholars and experts in different academic fields and from conference proceedings and invited lectures and book reviews. The journal embraced diverse theoretical and practical perspectives, and is open to contributions from scholars and practitioners from around the world. In many respects, the journal provides a needed reference to stimulate and support African sports studies.
IMPUMELELO is in restructuring to diversify the types of publications and expand its readership.
